It's been a couple of days since my last posting because I started my Family Integrated Care Program yesterday and didn't have much time to write. I'll try to keep you guys all up to date as much as possible but I may be skipping a day or two sometimes.
Monday's update in a nutshell was not much. Olivia is up to 960 grams now! I would have thought she would have lost weight with all those big #2's she had but instead she decided to gain! Way to go Olivia!
I believe Monday was Daddy cuddle time as well as it was a holiday. Dad was a huge sport and tried out my knock off Moby wrap I made the other day (the girly yellow wrap). At first he was resistant as it as too girly (he is holding a girl!) but he decided to try anyways. It was a success! Though he still might not have liked the girlyness of the wrap he did find it comfortable and a bit easier to hold her. He could go hands free sometimes if he wanted. I finally was allowed to post a photo of Dad holding Olivia! Here's a happy Dad with his little girl!

We spent a good couple of hours together with Olivia on Monday so that was nice. Olivia and I got to have Thanksgiving Dinner together! Lucky girls! (Jeff was left out of the dinner as he doesn't have a tube for feeding, haha). We were all together, nevertheless. That's the important part. I didn't get back to the hospital that evening as I had to get a good night's sleep. I was starting my first day of all day care with Olivia the next morning. (Family Integrated Care).
Yesterday (Tuesday), was an exciting day for me! I arrived at the hospital at 8:45am to start my day with Olivia.

I didn't want to disturb her but I had to:( The first thing I did was flip her over onto her back. I'm getting better at this! Still a bit nervous doing it but they keep telling me it'll get easier! After I flipped her I changed her diaper, took her temperature, changed her SAT probe and did some mouth care with her. I'm getting better at all of this as I believe I'm faster. It's amazing how much Olivia tolerates. She doesn't seem to mind me handling her as much anymore which is good as I'll be doing a lot more of that in the coming years! haha.
Once I finished I got Olivia out for her morning cuddle time. I used my NuRoo shirt again. So easy to put her in and cuddle her now. I can only imagine it'll get easier from here once all of her cables are off of her.

While we were cuddling I got to participate in the doctor's rounds at 9am! They basically do a report on Olivia and tell everyone how she's doing. I just got to listen in as well as get to talk afterwards if I had any questions or concerns. This I find will be a very helpful tool for me to understand a bit more of how she's doing as well a chance everyday to talk to somebody if I have any questions. During all this commotion Olivia just slept. She didn't have any questions or concerns other than perhaps "let me sleep guys!
Our cuddle session lasted 2 hours yesterday which was a good cuddle for her. She did end up having two brady's but that's okay. She's allowed to:) Mom fixed her up and she was all good again.

Once I tucked Olivia back into bed after her cuddle session she had a visitor come! Grandma Marcy popped by to see her! It was a busy afternoon for her as she had a head ultrasound at 12:30 as well. Everything's all good with her head:) It was just a routine scan. Here's Grandma Marcy!
To do her ultrasound they had to take off Olivia's "hat" which is always exciting for me as I don't get to see her very much with her "hat" and mask off. She looks so different every time I see her with it off now. You can see how much she's grown! Who do you think Olivia looks like? Me or Jeff?
Olivia had a very busy day yesterday two cuddles, a head ultrasound, and she even got her eyes checked! As I said up above, her head ultrasound was good! No follow ups needed. Her eyes will be followed has her eyes looked more premature than she was. They will just do a weekly check to make sure things are okay. Nothing to worry about at the moment though.
Okay, here's the awesome news all of us have been waiting for. Her results from her echocardiogram! Finally got the results yesterday afternoon and....her PDA is now small! It's closing on it's own and has no more risk for her and/or need to closed by surgery! Yay!! Way to go Olivia! You're doing a super job!
Now I can relax a bit and not worry about her so much. I do a lot of that sometimes even though I don't need to. She's my little girl, that's normal!:)
Now, back to the Family Integrated Care briefly. I was at the hospital from 8:45-7pm yesterday. I wasn't doing care all that time but was there most of the day with Olivia. I did her handling 4 times (diaper changing ect), held her twice, and just sat with her while she rested in-between. I had chance as well to head over to Jeneese Place as well to have a bit of t break and have lunch and even have a nap! Was too short of a nap but nevertheless, a nap! I haven't really napped during the day since I had her as it's really hard to find time. It'll be easier I think once Olivia's home so then I'll have some help from Jeff as well as everything will be in once place rather than me driving everywhere to get stuff done.
Today I'll be heading into the hospital in the afternoon for a few hours. That's the nice thing about this study is that it's not strict hours. It's flexible and we can share it between Jeff and I. We'll be heading in on the weekends for a couple of hours. It all counts.
Anyways, I should get going here. I have to take care of tucker now...He needs breakfast:) I'll be updating you all on how my FICare (Family Integrated Care) is going during the week. Thanks for reading!
