Yes, she's done it! Olivia is 4 weeks today! Hard to believe that 4 weeks ago today I was recovering in the postpartum ward in VGH!
For her 4 week birthday Jeff and I dropped her two visits! We both went in this morning for a bit to check up on her and deliver her milk. Her weight was up to 775 grams from last night at 9:30pm so that's awesome! Keep reading to see what her weight does tonight. I brought her a cute blanket from Costco I had bought this morning. Yes, it does have owls on it! I'm into owls right now, they're so cute! May be hard to see it all but here's her 4 week present from her mom:
I also brought in my SLR camera today to take some new shots of Olivia with something other than my iPhone. I do love my iPhone but sometimes it's nice to have a bit more control and zoom with a trusty Canon SLR camera.
I took some shots of Olivia and while I was checking them over on my LCD screen on my camera Jeff say's to me "Look! She's smiling!". I said, what?? I came over and sure enough, she was smiling away at us! Jeff and I hurried to try and get some shots of her smiling. We did our best and got a bit. I even took a video which you can view HERE. It was so adorable and special! What a wonderful surprise to get 4 weeks after she was born! Here are some shots I took of Olivia today.
After having lunch at the hospital we headed home to put our groceries away (we went shopping at Costco this morning). I was a bit tired this afternoon so after all the groceries were put away Jeff took Tucker to Thetis Lake while I stayed home and rested. I didn't do anything too much, just relaxed around the house.
Our afternoon didn't really consist of too much. We lounged around the house late afternoon doing a few house chores and did some TV watching. Before heading to bed this evening I wanted to head out one last time to visit our girl before bed. It was her big day so she deserved another visit:)
I've got a surprise for you all here! I planned this visit for 9:30 as this is when they do a handling of her (diaper change ect) as well as weigh her! I had never been there for her when she gets weighed. When they weigh her they take off her oxygen mask and hat! We finally got to see our little girl without all her cables on her head! I had never really seen her head before so this was another very special moment for us! Here she is!
Once Olivia was weighed...oh yes, guess I should mention she gained 5 grams! She's up to 780 grams! She didn't quite make it to 800 grams but she's close! She'll for sure get this this week sometime!
Continuing my sentence from above now....Once Olivia was weighed and cleaned up Daddy Jeff had a chance to do some mouth care with her. (for those of you that don't know what that is it's basically using a q-tip and dipping it in either milk or water and putting it in Olivia's mouth and on her lips so she can suck it and also clean her mouth). Tonight Jeff got to use water on the q-tip. He did an awesome job! Look how clean and happy she is now! Way to go Jeff!
While I was holding her she was wide awake and watching me for about a good ten minutes or so. She even smiled at me a bit and perhaps did a silent laugh I'm not sure. I did a bit of peek-a-boo with her and she seemed to sort of respond. Hard to tell when they're so tiny though but to me, it was a smile! I didn't get a photo of her smiling at me while I was holding her but I did get a couple of photos of tonight's cuddle session.
