The neonatologist came by today, Dr. Taylor, (Olivia's doctor) and got me up to speed on things with her. She is scheduled to have another echocardiogram (ultrasound on her heart) tomorrow to check on her heart valve to see if it's gotten any smaller or if it has closed up. Last echo showed it was smaller (she was on IBU to shrink it) but still not closed up. If tomorrow shows no signs of it closing more she may have to have surgery to close it up (worst case scenario). Other options, if it's closing on it's one slowly they may watch it or give her another round of IBU to help it close faster. We will find out tomorrow what the test results show.
She also had an x-ray on her little tummy as it was a bit extended but everything looked okay. They will just keep an eye on her.
That's all the scary news for now, now onto the good news! Olivia has impressed us once again today with gaining another 17 grams! She is now 550 grams! Keep on growing little one! Keep up the good work!
She also got her IV out which was in her belly button and she now has an IV in her little arm. They can only keep the IV in her belly button for a week or two before they have to move it or take it out. She has a cute belly:)
Daddy Jeff had an opportunity to take care of her tonight but he wasn't ready. That's okay! He'll have lots of opportunities to do so:) So, in turn, I got to change her diaper, take her temperature, as well as try to give her some milk on a q-tip for her to suck on. Apparently she loved it earlier this afternoon (I wasn't there) but had nothing to do with me feeding her today. Maybe tomorrow she'll let me.
That's about all that's new today. I will for sure keep you all up to date on her echo tomorrow. Finger's crossed it's good news.
Off to rest now! Thanks for reading everyone!
